*Summary

Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), the leading Korean government research institute, recently established a new institute named Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) which is comprised of three research centers including Center for Theragnosis, Center for Biomaterials, and Center for Bionics.

Since BRI is a new institute, KIST is seeking a new strategic plan to grow and expand BRI in both size and scope. From this point of view, KIST believes Hopkins BME is a great role model and benchmark for a successful organization in biomedical research.

The president of KIST, Dr. Moon, would like to visit Hopkins BME and have a fruitful discussion with the Director of BME, Dr. McVeigh, for advice and collaborative R&D.

Tentatively, the following topics will be discussed:

- BRI strategic development plan based on Hopkins BME's model

- Hopkins BME-KIST collaborative R&D plan including visiting researchers

- Invitation of advisory committee from Hopkins BME to KIST for annual evaluation of BRI
